The search process has begun to find the new head coach for the Seminole County varsity football program. The position has been posted on various online State websites as well as in this local organ. The position will be advertised for several weeks followed by an interview process. The new head coach will replace former coach Wes Williams who announced his retirement from the position last week.
The Seminole County Middle/High School and the Board of Education appreciate the dedication and service Coach Williams has provided to Seminole County and the football program for the past four plus years. “We certainly hope Coach Williams will continue to serve the athletic department in various capacities for the years to come. Finding a replacement for Coach Williams will certainly be difficult as he has been an exemplary role model for our student athletes in his term as head coach here at Seminole County. Replacing Coach Williams will be one thing; however, finding a replacement for the ideals Coach Williams exemplified for as a mentor for children will be an entirely different matter,” commented Seminole County School Superintendent Brinson Register.
Meanwhile, work to repair the damages to Seminole Stadium caused by Hurricane Michael is ongoing. A new scoreboard has been installed, the light towers have been reinstalled and work continues on the grandstands and the press box.
Further updates on the search process for a new head coach will be posted as they become available in the Donalsonville News and online at donalsonvillenews.com.
