SCES students ready to perform Disney’s Little Mermaid, Jr. on Cherry Street Thursday night

Thursday, May 2 at 5:45 p.m. on Cherry Street in downtown Donalsonville

Seminole County Elementary students have been braving the almost 90 degree heat in preparation for tonight’s musical performance of Disney’s Little Mermaid, Jr. Hurricane Michael may have wreaked havoc with the physical facilities at Seminole County Elementary School; however, it did not destroy the spirit of its students, especially the ones practicing and preparing for their annual musical extravaganza. This year’s annual Seminole County Elementary musical performance will be held this evening, May 2, beginning at 5:45 p.m. The performance’s location will be in downtown Donalsonville on Cherry Street due to damage from Hurricane Michael to the school’s auditorium facility.

Parking for the event will be available on Woolfork Avenue, the grass lot behind Ponder Enterprises, Second Street and the former Food Outlet parking lot.

The cast of third, fourth and fifth grade students,  directed by Tony and Joy Buczek with the assistance of Angie Carr, will take you under the seas right in the middle of downtown. First and second grade students, under the direction of  Robbie Smith, will provide a short concert at 5:45 p.m. and the production of The Little Mermaid Jr., will begin immediately after the first and second grade performance.

There will be no charge for admission – just bring a comfortable chair and get ready to be entertained. Local food businesses will also be on hand offering food and drink selections before and after the concert.

Geeja Mims, Holly Godby, Gloria Fain and Tina Fain are the costume coordinators, April Holt is the set director,Shaun Earnest is providing his carpentry skills and Jim Palmer will be providing special effects. The Assistant Director for the production is Robbie Smith.

In the event of rain, the event will be held in the school’s Malcom

Gymnasium on Tennille Avenue.
