GA Lottery pays locally

Alyce C. Thornhill, Community Relations Director for the Georgia Lottery Corporation was recently in town and she brought with her some exciting numbers.

Did you know . . . ? Since the lottery’s inception in 1993 $100,221,159 have been returned to Seminole County. That number includes $72,823,050 paid out to lottery winners, $8,180,615 in retailer commissions, 10,175,517 HOPE dollars have been distributed to 2,746 HOPE students and 8,362,065 Pre-K dollars have assisted 2,175 Pre-K students.

In 2018, 4,890,017 dollars were awarded locally in prizes, $355,091 assisted 127 HOPE students and $354,006 assisted 88 Pre-K students.

From scratch off tickets to Mega Millions to Power Ball, numbers show that it does indeed pay to play the lottery.
