With safety for its students and the community foremost in the minds of Seminole County Middle-High School officials, beginning the first day of school, Wednesday, August 7, a new student drop off area and a new spot for student parking will be in effect.
All students being dropped off or picked up by any vehicle other than a school bus will now take place at the entrance of the school’s Jesse McLeod Gymnasium. Access to the school for all drop offs and pick ups will be accessible from Sheffield Drive only. Vehicles will access Sheffield Drive from Town and Country Road, turn right into the gymnasium parking lot and travel its perimeter for drop offs and pick ups at the gymnasium entrance side of the parking lot. Exit from the parking lot will also require all to travel north on Sheffield Drive, turning right or left on to Town and Country Road.
All student parking will now be in the parking spots in front of the main school entrance along Georgia Highway 39. School bus drop off and pick up will remain the same along the front driveway of the school. In the mornings and the afternoons the school’s main entrances along Georgia Highway 39 will be available only for students to access parking and for school buses. All faculty and administration parking will be in the gymnasium/field house parking lot.
“These changes are being implemented for the safety of our students and school personnel as well as to reduce congestion for all traveling, entering and exiting onto Georgia Highway 39,” commented Seminole County Middle-High School Principal Kent Richardson.
Any questions or concerns can be addressed with school officials by calling the school at 229-524-5135 or in person at the school’s Meet the Teachers Open House event on Tuesday, August 6 from 1 to 3 p.m.
