All boys and girls ages Kindergarten through sixth grade invited to sign up

An exciting time for Cub Scouts Pack 700 begins tonight (Thursday) with new Scout sign up.  The sign up will happen in the lunchroom of the Seminole County Elementary School tonight, Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 p.m.. The part that makes this so exciting are the changes in Scouting to include kindergarten and girls, making the Scouting program a true family organization. Pack 700, chartered to Friendship United Methodist Church, is welcoming girls to be part of the scouting program. Scout Master Mitch Royals commented, “Sisters of our Cub Scouts have always been around the Scouting program. They have camped with the family on our camping trips, they have attended our pack meetings and have even been involved in our pine wood derby races. Now they will be able to receive recognition and advancement for their participation.”

If you are unable to attend the sign up on the 15th you can still join Scouting. On August 20 at 6 p.m. the Pack will hold a meeting at Friendship United Methodist Church. The public is welcome to attend and applications will be available to join. Contact Scout Master Royals at 229-416-5347 or Scout Master Jack Guimares at 813-388-3272.

The leadership of the Pack and Friendship United Methodist Church have decided to structure the Pack to have boy dens and girl dens in each age group.  Little boys and little girls will be working in their own gender and age group.  So the way this will look is:

Lions (kindergarten) will have a boy den and a girl den, Tigers (first grade) will have a boy den and a girl den, Wolves (second grade) will have a boy den and a girl den, Bears (third grade) will have a boy den and a girl den,  Webelos I (fourth grade) will have a boy den and a girl den, and Webelos II (fifth grade) will have a boy den and a girl den.  Each den will meet separately and work on each month’s theme and assignment.  Once a month all the dens come together in a Pack meeting to show off what they have accomplished and receive their advancement recognition.

Royals further commented, “The values we are teaching in Scouting have not changed!  Working together and doing your best are still important lessons that all children need to learn.  All K-sixth grade students who love to have fun are invited to come and join us.”
