School Supply Scramble set for August 6

Sign up by July 27 to donate school supplies or volunteer by calling Family Connection coordinator Billie McLendon by at 229-309-0531

Seminole County Family Connection’s  second annual “School Supply Scramble” for Pre-K through fifth grade students is set for Thursday, August 6th from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Seminole County Elementary School gymnasium.  Because of COVID-19 safety precautions the flow of scramble’s traffic in the gym will be conducted differently this year. Students will arrive at the school and meet with their teacher where they will receive a ticket, like last year, to redeem in the gym for school supplies. In the gym there will be seven color-coded tables distributing the supplies – one table will be designated for each grade.

In an effort to keep community partners involved in the event Family Connection offers a few options to participate. Businesses and organizations can provide information marketing their products and services to be placed in the give away bags. If interested, a minimum quantity of 300 is requested.

The event will also need volunteers to work each of the seven tables picking up tickets and handing out supplies.

Community partners can support the scramble by donating wide-ruled loose leaf paper, pencils, colored pencils, colored markers and three-prong folders. These items can either be purchased, or participating partners can make a monetary donation to support the purchase of schools supplies.

To make a donation or to schedule a pick up time of donated supplies contact Billie McLendon by July 27th at 229-309-0531.

All community sponsors and partners will be listed on the sponsor sheet for the event that will be placed in the bags, displayed at various locations during the event, and promoted, before and after the event in the Donalsonville News.
