Plans are proceeding for the return of the Donalsonville-Seminole County Chamber of Commerce’s Boots and Roots Rodeo; however, the COVID-19 pandemic and related issues from it have forced the event to be rescheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24. Rodeo circuit scheduling conflicts caused by COVID-19 have forced Donalsonville’s rodeo, along with rodeo events throughout the country, to reschedule and regroup.
Originally planned for March of this year, the rodeo which was cancelled in its entirety last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been officially moved from March 19-20 of this year to the new April dates.
Delaying the rodeo by a month may also provide the added benefit of a safer rodeo, allowing more time for residents to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and for the possible decline in local positive virus case numbers.
This year’s rodeo will follow the safety guidelines and protocols recommended by county and state health departments. The wearing of face masks will be required for all rodeo attendees seated on the bleachers or standing inside the arena, sanitizing stations will be located throughout the facility, and all concessions will follow social distancing recommendations.
Mark your calendar for Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24 and get ready to kick up some dust and experience a professional rodeo right here in Seminole County at the Chris Thomas Arena on U.S. Highway 84 east in Donalsonville.
The chamber’s mission in annually staging a quality rodeo event in Seminole County has three objectives: to provide a first class family-oriented event for the enjoyment of the citizens of Seminole County, to salute Seminole County farmers and agri-businesses and to operate as an annual fund raising vehicle. Profits from each year’s two-day rodeo event finance future community projects of the chamber and a percentage of the profits will be donated to the youth organizations of the community.
Sponsor partners who signed up for last year’s COVID-19 cancelled event will have their commitment honored for this year’s event. Businesses and individuals are invited to become a sponsor at the following levels: Gold Partner – $2,500; Silver Partner – $1,500; Event Partner – $750; Chute Gate Partner – $500; Banner Partner – $350 and Friends of the Rodeo -$100.
Join the rodeo’s sponsorship team by calling the Chamber at 229-524-2588.

Attendees of this year’s rodeo are reminded that under Georgia law, there will be no liability to the chamber for the inherent risks of contracting COVID-19, and attendees assume this risk by entering the chamber sanctioned event’s facility.
