Seminole County baseball, golf teams win region, advance to state

Seminole County Middle High School had a tremendous week last week with the girls and boys winning Region Tennis titles, Literary region winners, Baseball Region champions and girls and boys Golf Area Champions.

The Seminole County Region Champion Diamond Indians, pictured above, have an overall record of 22- 5, and 15-1 in region play. With two regular season games remaining on Thursday in Dothan against Northside Methodist Academy and Friday at Port St. Joe, the Diamond Indians will host the first round of the state baseball playoffs April 29-30 against an opponent TBA.

The Seminole County girls and boys golf teams, pictured above right, dominated the Region 1A and 2A Area Championship. The girls team won by over 20 strokes and the boys team won by over 60 strokes.  Jay Palmer was the low medalist with a round of 78 while Landon Kirkland finished second in the area championship behind his teammate. Sierra Houston placed second overall for the girls competition. 

Both golf teams advance to state tournament competition.
