The Friendship Store is moving from its longtime Tennille Avenue location to 120 East Second Street, right in the middle of downtown Donalsonville.
A thrift store outreach ministry of Donalsonville’s Friendship United Methodist Church (FUMC), the Friendship Store offers affordable quality clothing and household items to those in need in the community.
FUMC uses the proceeds from the sale of the store’s donated goods to fund the church’s food ministries and community outreach ministries that include the food pantry, the monthly manna drop, and storm recovery projects.
Over the years the store has been called to action many times to provide clothing for those who are displaced because of fire or other events. Every dollar spent in the store returns to the community and absolutely nothing is ever placed in the church’s general budget.
“We believe that the downtown community is the heart of our community and we look forward to being involved in helping to make that heart beat even stronger,” commented FUMC pastor Nate Lehman.
Planning to be open in its new location as soon as possible, the store will be open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Donations are welcomed and are accepted during store hours. For additional information regarding the services of the store call 229-524-2328.
