Community’s generosity makes season brighter for Seminole Manor residents

The Season of Giving!

Resident’s Angel Tree brings the giving spirit to Donalsonville nursing home

Seminole Manor Nursing Home Director Shelley Hines and her staff wanted to bring joy to a special group of people in their facility during the holidays. They set up a resident’s Angel Tree in the facility’s foyer and invited the public to come out and choose a tag from the tree, purchase a gift for the tag’s assigned resident, and experience the joy of making that person merry and bright this holiday season.  Each tag provided needed information about a resident without giving their name.

Hoping to get some support from the local community they promoted the tree in the Donalsonville News and placed flyers on bulletin boards around town.  The response they received was overwhelming, and with the generous public support, multiple gifts were under the tree for every single resident in the nursing home when they opened them during their annual Christmas party last Friday.

“Our community embraced the Christmas spirit to uplift our residents’ spirit during this season of giving and help make it the most wonderful time of the year for all of us. The people in our community went above and beyond the call of duty making Christmas extra special, and a holly jolly, magical event for all of our residents. This was a grand event for the residents and all gifts and donations were so greatly appreciated,” added Hines.
