As seen in the aerial photo at right, construction continues and is progressing well on the new Dry Creek bridge on State Route 45 in Seminole County just north of Iron City. State Route 45 closed to non-local traffic on Tuesday, November 30. Construction, which was originally announced to take six months, will continue to require a detour through the month of May. Detour roads designated continue to be SR 91, SR 38 and SR 310.
The former bridge on that road was built in 1972 and is in the process of being replaced by one with wider shoulders and slightly wider travel lanes. The contractor was permitted to close SR 45 for 180 calendar days. That time period is set to expire at the end of May.
The cost of the project is approximately $2.2 million.
