Dixie Youth State Baseball Tournament in town July 14-17

The Seminole County Recreation Department is excited to be hosting the Dixie Youth 12U Baseball State Tournament here in Donalsonville today, Thursday, July 14 through Sunday, July 17. The opening ceremony will begin at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 14.
“In order to have a successful tournament it will take community support, so we are asking for volunteers from all of you – merchants as sponsors, workers as helpers, hostesses, etc. There is room for everyone to share in this event that will bring people to our great city of Donalsonville,” commented Seminole County Recreation Department Director Billy Fain.
There will be eight teams competing in this Division II state championship. The top three teams will advance to the World Series in Anderson, South Carolina, July 29 through August 3.
Concessions will be available at the park, and a Homerun Derby for 12U and under; and a Pitching Contest for 12U and under will be held during the three-day tournament.
Fain added, “Please come out and support our boys”. There will be a $10.00 gate fee for adults, $5.00 for children six to 12 years old, and free for five and under.
