Senator Tyler Harper speaks to award-winning FFA chapter

On Monday, June 27, members of the Seminole County Young Farmer chapter as well as some others from surrounding counties met at the Seminole County Agricultural Center to hear guest speaker Senator Tyler Harper talk about current issues facing our agricultural industry and the importance of agriculture to our state and nation’s economy.  A ribeye steak meal was served to the large crowd on hand who were allowed to ask questions of Senator Harper after his presentation.  Immediately following the presentation was the awards and recognition ceremony conducted by chapter President Jeff Braswell.

Members who represented the Young Farmer chapter in the major award categories recognized by the Georgia Young Farmers Association were called forward to accept gifts and awards as well as some other outstanding individuals who have demonstrated committed service and dedication to the local chapter.  Award recipients recognized included Dustin Bowen – State Winner of the Young Beginning Producer Award; Ben Dozier  – Calvin Atkinson Outstanding Member Recipient; Susan Braswell – South Region Winner and State Finalist for the Outstanding Member Award; Jeff Braswell – Chapter President and GYFA Treasurer Outstanding Service Award; Dusty Smith – Seminole County Young Farmers Outstanding Service Award; Cody Bowling – Co-winner of the Calvin Atkinson Outstanding Member Award; and Stan Deal – Retiring GYFA Past-President Service Award.
