Do you have the winning entry for this year’s Harvest Festival Recipe contest?
The Harvest Festival Recipe Contest will accept recipes with peanuts, pecans, peanut butter, pecan butter, peanut oil, pecan oil, or any other peanut or pecan products
Who will cook up the winning recipe this year? The Donalsonville-Seminole County Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all the great cooks in the community to mix up some winning ingredients and enter this season’s Harvest Festival’s Recipe Contest.
Contest committee chairpersons Stephanie Mims, Cindy Meadows and Susan Braswell have been busy putting together a winning recipe for a great contest and a whole lot of good eating.
“Recipes with peanuts, pecans, peanut butter, pecan butter, peanut oil, pecan oil, or other peanut/pecan products will be accepted,” said Mrs. Mims. “The recipe does not have to be an original. It can be a family favorite passed down through the generations, something shared on Pinterest or one torn out of a magazine. All are acceptable – as long as the entry is made from scratch.”
The Harvest Festival Recipe Contest will be held Thursday, October 19 at the UGA Cooperative Extension Office located at 426 North Friendship Avenue in Donalsonville. Entries will be accepted at the Extension Office from 1 – 6 p.m. on the day of the contest. Judging will begin at 6 p.m. and award winners will be announced at the Chamber of Commerce office on Friday, October 20.
Remember that each recipe must feature peanuts, pecans, peanut butter, pecan butter, peanut oil, pecan oil, or other peanut/pecan products.
The contest will be divided into student and adult divisions. An adult is defined as anyone over 18 years of age, and a student is defined as anyone 17 years of age and younger.
Contest categories will include appetizers, main dishes and desserts.
All recipes must be printed or typed and include all ingredients and directions needed. A copy should be attached to the official entry form. There is a limit of one entry per category per person, and all entries must be in disposable containers.
The 2023 Harvest Festival Recipe Contest is sponsored by Mims’ Farm, UGA Extension Seminole County, and the Seminole County Young Farmers.
Contest applications and instruction sheets are available at the chamber office located at 122 East Second Street in downtown Donalsonville.
