Harvest Festival set for Saturday, October 21
The Donalsonville-Seminole County Chamber of Commerce is finalizing plans for the community’s annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 21st.
Chamber President Sarah Avery commented, “We are planning to have as many of everyone’s favorites as possible – a parade, arts and crafts vendors, food, music, and children’s activities which will include pony rides, face painting, a rock climbing wall, bouncy houses and a train. This year’s parade theme is a Bountiful Harvest, and we’re looking forward to seeing the creativity of our local residents on display.”
Again this year the Festival will be held completely between Tennille Avenue and Wiley Avenue. Food vendors will be located on Woolfork Avenue, musical entertainment and children’s activities will be set up on Cherry Street, and Arts/Crafts vendors will line both sides of Second Street. The Fine Arts show, held in the Woolfork Avenue Cultural Center, and the Old Iron Tractor Museum on Second Street west of Wiley Avenue, will be open for tours throughout the day.
The day will begin with the annual running of the Rejoice Run & Mom’s Mile at 8 a.m., see article below, followed by the Harvest Festival parade at 11 a.m., and musical performances by Dylan Kelley, beginning after the parade.
Local businesses, church groups, dance groups, school groups, beauty queens, elected officials, residents, and neighboring community members are encouraged to participate and put a festive entry in the parade. The theme for the parade is “A Bountiful Harvest”, so decorate a float, a vehicle, or a person with anything harvest related!
Lineup for the parade begins at 9:30 a.m. in front of Seminole County Elementary School on Highway 91 South in Donalsonville.
Parade entries will be judged and the most festive and creative entries will be awarded ribbons. If you wish to have your entry judged, you must be in place by 10 a.m. There is no entry fee for the parade; however, a parade application and liability form must be submitted.
