Installation of fiber to home broadband service has begun
Seminole County Manager Paula Granger announced this week that the Mediacom project to expand internet and broadband service throughout Seminole County has now begun.
Mediacom is proud to partner with the Georgia Office of Planning and Budget and the Georgia Broadband Office to extend high-quality, Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) broadband service to unserved or underserved homes in Seminole County. Through the state’s Capital Project Fund grant, Mediacom will construct and manage a fiber network that will provide broadband service with speeds up to 2,000 Mbps download and 1,000 Mbps upload to an estimated 1,908 Seminole County homes that were pre-selected by the Office of Broadband in the county.
The build process for this network is now underway and should be completed by September 2026. This is a large build, with estimated 221.9 miles across Seminole County. This network will be constructed in phases to minimize any disruptions and ensure that any impact from this construction is as minimal as possible.
