Mitchell Blanks wins re-election to Council Seat

In the November 7th election Donalsonville City Councilman Mitchell Blanks won re-election to his District Two, Post 5 seat, easily defeating challenger Lillian Harris 246-29.

275 votes were cast in the election; 122 votes were cast in advance, and 147 votes plus six absentee ballots were cast on election day.

Council Person Blanks commented, “First and foremost, I would like to thank God for allowing me to serve the residents of Donalsonville. I would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support and prayers. I will continue to serve the citizens of this community.  Based on the numbers from previous elections, where only one race was on the ballot, one hundred or more voters turned out for this election. Despite the frivolous lawsuit filed by Billy Shingler and his 13 followers, it was clearly an attempt to damage my campaign.  What the enemy meant for evil, God has worked for my good. No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”

Elsewhere in the City of Donalsonville, incumbent City of Donalsonville Council Person Travis Brooks, running unopposed, won re-election to his District One, Post 2 seat.

In the Town of Iron City incumbent Mayor Ronnie Ingram and Post 3 incumbent Council Person John Gray chose not to run for re-election.

Zach Conoly, current Council Person representing Post 1, ran unopposed and was elected to the Office of Mayor. Laura Croom and Kevin Lovering ran unopposed and were elected to Council Person Post 1 and Council Person Post 3.
