GBI Investigates death of five-month-old in Donalsonville

On Sunday, February 4, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Donalsonville Police Department to assist with an investigation into the death of a five-month-old female. Preliminary information indicates the following: 

At approximately 10:00 a.m., relatives of the child discovered her unresponsive in the living room of the residence. The child was driven by family members to the Donalsonville Hospital Emergency Department. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and the child was pronounced deceased by medical staff.  GBI agents and Donalsonville Police Department investigators are conducting interviews and reviewing evidence. An autopsy is scheduled at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause and manner of death.
