It’s time for Mardi Gras in downtown Donalsonville. Let’s join together and let the good times roll!

It’s time to get on the train, or get off the tracks!

For the past six plus weeks a committed group of chamber and community volunteers have been working hard planning this year’s Mardi Gras celebration. A full slate of family oriented fun and festive events is planned and the good times are set to roll this Saturday, February 18 beginning at 4:30 p.m. in downtown Donalsonville.  This event, along with additional events planned throughout 2017, is a great example of a committed community group making a plan and then working the plan – together.
As chairman of the Donalsonville Seminole County Chamber of Commerce my working theme for the year 2017 is – This is the people’s chamber –  it is the community’s chamber and it is going to take the commitment and the effort of the entire community to make it the best year yet. The chamber has big plans for making the quality of life here even better than it already is.  The progress fire is lit and burning brightly in Donalsonville and Seminole County. Now is the time to pool our assets, work together, keep fueling the fire and head straight for the progress land.
If you live in Seminole County and wish to make this community an even better place to live, work and visit, then you are an interested party, so stop waiting on someone else to make our community better. It is time to join in the efforts in progress, work together and make them happen.
If you have an opinion or an idea, we want to hear it. If you disagree with a suggestion made or projects planned, we want to hear it. Everything happening here in our home is a community project and the ultimate goal is to work together to make our community an even better place to live.
If you can’t take the time to support the process of progress then, in my opinion, you do not need to be wasting any of your time, or mine, complaining about it.
We are limited only by the size of our dreams. And as a spokesperson for the chamber, the BetterWay Initiative and this newspaper, I will continue to shout from the roof tops, and from the tree tops, that our dreams are huge, our expectations are grand and we will stop at nothing short of achievement of each and every goal we set. Dream it, believe in it, work to make it happen and then sit back and expect it – that’s the Seminole County plan.
It is now time for action on everyone’s part.
It’s time for each of us to make a decision . . . the chamber’s train is moving forward, so climb aboard  the progress train or get off the tracks and get out of its way.
See you at Mardi Gras!
