Back Porch Pickers to celebrate one year anniversary Friday, May 1st at the Senior Center
If you are looking for a toe-tapping good time Dallas Waddell and The Back Porch Pickers invite everyone to come out to the Senior Citizens Center in Donalsonville on Friday, May 1.
Waddell has been pickin’ most all of his life, starting when he was twelve years old. In April of 2025 Waddell said he wanted “To pay back the privilege of growing up here to the people of Seminole County and the surrounding areas.”
The way he chose to do this was by forming the Back Porch Pickers and providing musical entertainment for local senior citizens, along with any others who are interested. To kick off this endeavor, he began presenting a group at the local Senior Citizens Center, once a month, on the first Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m. The first performance in May of 2025 featured musical selections from the Sand Hill Sisters from Marianna, Florida
Waddell said he planned to try this for six months, to see how it goes. Twelve months later it is still going and growing.
So, on Friday, May 1st, the Pickers will be celebrating the first year anniversary of this program, and they’re starting something new. Each guest will be given a ticket when they enter, and should hang on to it. About half way through the show, a ticket will be drawn and the lucky holder of that ticket will win $25.00. But hold on, there’s more. That person has the choice to take the money; or they can choose to leave it in the envelope, and let the “pot” grow. If the money is left in the envelope, another $25.00 will be added for next month’s drawing. Each winner will have the choice to take it or leave it.
Featured guests this Friday, May 1st, will be The Wiregrass Harmony Brothers.
The entertainment begins at 5:00 p.m. and the session lasts approximately two hours. There is no charge to attend, but donations will be accepted.
If you would like to be the featured entertainment at a future session, you may contact Dallas at 229-254-0298.
