Meg Mathis sweeps Seminole County Market Hog Show’s top three awards

The annual Donalsonville-Seminole County Chamber of Commerce Market Hog Show was held Saturday, February 18 at the Ag Center on Town and Country Rd. south of town. Thirty-two FFA, 4-H and pre-club members exhibited sixty-three hogs at the show. Barrows and gilts were shown in separate classes, a Grand and Reserve Champion of each gender was selected, and from those Grand Champions a Supreme Champion was chosen. 

The Supreme Champion of the Show was also the Grand Champion Barrow shown by Meg Mathis. The Grand Champion gilt was also shown by Mathis.   

The Reserve Champion barrow was a shown by Kade Touchton, and the Reserve Champion Gilt shown by Ashley Womack.

The Austin Brackin Sportsmanship Award was awarded to Ashley Womack.

The Larry Jr. and Brent Fennell Scholarship Award sponsored by the Donalsonville/Seminole County Chamber of Commerce went to Will Miller.

The Ira “Buddy” Lee Senior Showmanship Award was presented to first place Senior Showmanship Winner Meg Mathis.

The Lemuel Ross Elementary Showmanship Award  was presented to Jemma Bailey.

The Calvin Atkinson Outstanding Up & Coming Show Team Member was presented to Grayson Temples.

The Judge for this year’s show was Blake Davis. 

Kindergarten through eighth grade exhibitors included Chanley Atkinson, Jemma Bailey, Gavin Burke, Kash Dennis Addy Eakin, Grayson Temples, Autumn Tyson, Merrill Fiveash, Abbie Helms, Nolan Helms, Charlee June Herrington, Bracyn Phillips, Drew Smith, Brinn Womack, Michael Morgan Womack and JD Womble.

Ninth through twelfth grade exhibitors included Emma Claire Creel, Jada Coachman, Jozlyn Cobb, Hattie Harrison, Savanna Holmes, Meg Mathis, Will Miller, Brittany Robinson, Katelyn Ross, Colin Rogers, Mindy Shattles, BethAnn Smith, Hugh Scarborough, Aspen Thompson, Kade Touchton, and Ashley Womack.
