Parker Broome, a graduating Senior at Southwest Georgia Academy, is the recipient of the 2023 Tri-State Archeological Society Broome, Haddock, Wingate youth scholarship. Treasurer Richard Reed and past-president and founding member Kevin Dowdy presented the scholarship during the Best of the Best Deep South Super Show held at Southern Regional Technical College in Bainbridge on February 4.
The scholarship, named in honor of Hugh D. Broome, Jr., Henry Haddock and Jack Wingate, is awarded annually to a graduating Senior planning to attend college, and whose parents or grandparents are members of the Tri-State Archeological Society.
The Broome, Haddock, Wingate Scholarship Program is the most successful scholarship program affiliated with an
artifact collecting society in the country.
Parker is the son of Tammy McConnell of Bainbridge and Dee and Erica Broome of Donalsonville. He will be attending Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro beginning in the Fall.
