Animal Rescue Alliance is asking for community’s help to raise funding to install covers on its dog runs
The Animal Rescue Alliance needs help from the community to provided the safest, healthiest and most comfortable environment available for the animals it is housing.
The shelter has two kennel buildings housing a total of 20 kennels. Each individual kennel has an indoor space, a small outdoor decked area, and an outside run. However, if rains for more than a day, the animal runs have been filling up with water. Recently, after heavy rains for over a period of a week, the outside areas became completely inundated with water, forcing the dogs to walk in it to use the bathroom.
A few weeks ago the shelter posted this situation on Facebook, asking the community for ideas and assistance to solve the problem. It was decided that although the possibility of grading each run and adding some fill would help, the runs really needed to be covered for a long term solution. A company generously offered to donate the metal for a roof if the shelter would cover the cost of lumber and supplies, and labor.
The shelter held a yard sale a couple of weeks ago and raised part of the necessary funds. Now shelter volunteers are appealing to the community for support for the rest of the cost. A local contractor provided an estimate of $4,000 for the work including labor and materials.
The Animal Rescue Alliance is asking for the public’s help with this project. A donation of $200 covers the cost of covering one dog run.
