Literacy on the Lawn to feature The Bad Guys Friday night at Seminole Stadium

The entire community is invited to come out and join Literacy on the Lawn this Friday night, March 8 at the Seminole County football stadium.

This year’s theme for the annual Family Connection literacy event is the book turned motion picture, The Bad Guys, a 2022 American animated heist comedy film loosely based on the children’s book series of the same name by Aaron Blabey.

Weather permitting, the evening will feature inflatables and outdoor games starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by the outdoor movie. In the event of rain or winds higher than seven miles per hour the event will take place inside the Seminole County
Elementary School gym.

Parents can check out the videos of chapters 1-4 on Seminole County Elementary School and Family Connection’s Facebook pages. The school is also sending out the videos via text if parents are signed up to receive those. The first 200 families attending Friday evening’s event will receive a free copy of The Bad Guys book.

Each morning this week at SCES one of the main characters from The Bad Guys book has been introduced to the students as a masked reader during SCES’s morning powwow videos. This mystery solving task has excited and engaged students as they have been guessing all week which SCES staff member was posing as a masked reader. All four reader’s identities will be revealed at 6 p.m. Friday evening.

Make plans to come out for a fun filled family friendly evening. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and the entire family. Pizza, candy and popcorn concessions will also be available and will be sold at pries ranging from $1 to $5.
