Representative Greene receives 2024 Legislative Recognition Award

Recently, at a joint district meeting with the District 8 and District 12 probate judges, the Council of Probate Court Judges of Georgia honored State Representative Gerald Greene.
Representative Greene was one of six recipients of the 2024 Legislative Recognition Award.
For the first time since its inception, the Council awarded the honor to six recipients: along with Representative Greene, State Representative Todd Jones, State Senator Max Burns, State Representative Trey Kelley, State Representative John LaHood, and Mr. Todd Edwards of ACCG.
Gilmer Probate Judge Scott Chastain, the Council’s current president-elect, presented the award to Representative Kelley on the Council’s behalf. Also in attendance and pictured above with Represnetative Green were Quitman County Probate Judge Matthew Self, Muscogee County Associate Judge David Siegel, Seminole County Probate Judge Michael Rogerson, Dooly County Probate Judge Rooney Bowen, III, Randolph County Probate Judge Tony C. Thompson, Worth County Probate Judge Virginia Acord, Thomas County Probate Judge Vickie Burnette, Grady County Probate Judge Denise Maddox, Mitchell County Probate Judge Serless West-Robinson, Calhoun County Probate Judge Annie Doris Holder, Baker County Probate Court Angela Hendricks, and CPCJ executive director Kevin D. Holder.
“Chairman Greene has truly been a friend to the probate judges across Georgia,” said Judge Chastain. “As evidence of this, during this year’s legislative session, Chairman Greene was one of the staunchest advocates of Senate Bill 212, which eliminated elections jurisdiction from probate courts. Without Chairman Greene, this bill would not have achieved final passage. We thank him for his tireless efforts in passing SB 212 and for his service to the citizens of Georgia.”
The Legislative Recognition Award is an honor awarded on an annual basis, as selected by the leadership of the Council of Probate Court Judges of Georgia. Last year’s recipient of the award was State Senator John F. Kennedy, the president pro tempore of the Georgia Senate.
