Congressman Bishop to speak at Memorial Day ceremony set for 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27

The Seminole County Memorial Day ceremony, hosted by the American Legion Post 157, is set for Monday, May 27 and will be held on the front lawn of the Seminole County Courthouse located on Knox Avenue in downtown Donalsonville.
Memorial Day weekend begins this Friday afternoon and the annual Seminole County Memorial Day celebration and ceremony, honoring those who gave the supreme sacrifice for our freedom, will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday. The program will be conducted by Post #157 Commander Royce Davis.
The keynote speaker for this occasion will be Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. Congressman Bishop is serving his fifteenth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Georgia’s Second Congressional District, which covers 29 middle and southwest Georgia counties and includes Seminole, Baker, Calhoun, Chattahoochee, Clay, Crawford, Crisp, Decatur, Dooly, Dougherty, Early, Grady, Lee, Macon, Marion, Miller, Mitchell, Peach, Quitman, Randolph, Seminole, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Terrell, and Webster and parts of Bibb and Muscogee. The middle and southwest Georgia legislator seeks to use the legislative process to create a higher, better quality of life for all citizens by promoting jobs and a stronger, more diversified economy, better education, safe and secure communities, a clean environment, affordable and accessible health care, sustainable agriculture, energy independence, and a strong national defense — all within the context of a balanced budget.
Other participants on the program will be the Post #157 Color Guard consisting of Legion members William Bramlett, Jerry Houston and David Woods, and Honor Guards George Doyle and Jeff Roberts. The Bugler for the event will be Joe Tatum, and musical entertainment will be provided by Tony and Joy Buczek and the Seminole Singers.
The Seminole County Community is invited to come out and support this Memorial Day program for the lives that were lost for the freedom we enjoy here in the United States of America.
