One block of Fourth Street now a one-way street

In a recent decision aimed at improving traffic flow and increasing safety, the Donalsonville City Council voted to convert a section of Fourth Street into a one-way street. The affected block behind the new Tractor Supply location stretches from Wiley Avenue to South Knox Avenue and is now restricted to westbound traffic only.
The implementation of this one-way street is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance vehicular movement and ensure the safety of our residents and visitors. The Council carefully considered various factors, including traffic patterns and safety concerns, before reaching this decision. This change was made following a thorough study and consultation with traffic engineers, ensuring that the best possible solution was chosen for our community.
Donalsonville City Manager Jeffrey Hatcher commented, “We understand that changes in traffic patterns can be challenging and may raise questions or concerns among our community members. Rest assured, the decision to make Fourth Street a one-way section was made after careful study and professional consultation. Our goal is to create a safer and more efficient environment for all.”
To inform and guide drivers about this new traffic regulation, signs have been strategically placed along the designated route. All drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to these signs and follow the new traffic flow to ensure a smooth transition and prevent any confusion or accidents.
Hatcher added, “We welcome your feedback and are here to assist you. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact City Hall at (229) 524-2118.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we strive to make Donalsonville a safer and more efficient place to live and travel.”
