Kale King appointed Seminole County EMA Director

 

Seminole County Manager Paula Granger is pleased to announce the Seminole County Board of Commissioners has appointed Kale King as Emergency Management Authority (EMA) Director/Volunteer Fire Chief effective immediately.  Mr. King has extensive knowledge and experience in both law enforcement and fire.  He worked as a deputy and investigator for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office for six years and has served as a volunteer firefighter.  King has been employed with the city of Donalsonville’s Fire and Rescue Department since 2009 and is currently a shift Captain and Fire Investigator.  He is a state and nationally certified Firefighter, Level 2, a Fire Officer, a Fire Inspector, a POST Certified Fire Instructor, Post Certified Fire Investigator, and POST Certified Peace Office with the State of Georgia.

King commented, “I’m really honored to serve as the EMA Director for Seminole County. This community means a lot to me, and I’m looking forward to working with our local teams and agencies to help keep everyone safe and prepared. My focus will be on strengthening our response and mitigation plans as well as making sure we’re ready when emergencies happen. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to serving the people of Seminole County.”

This appointment is a key leadership position and is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and direction of Seminole County’s Emergency Management operations and volunteer fire departments.  King will lead emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for the county while also overseeing all administrative, operational, and strategic functions of the volunteer fire departments.   

A Deputy Director will be appointed by Commissioners in the near future. King’s appointment replaces previous EMA Director Jeffrey Hatcher and Deputy Director Travis Brooks.
