Qualifying dates, fees set for Municipal Elections posts

Qualifying dates have been set for candidates wishing to run in November’s municipal elections in the city of Donalsonville and the town of Iron City. Candidates may qualify with the Seminole County Election Superintendent, located in the Courthouse Annex, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on August 18 and continuing through 4:30 p.m. on August 22.

In Donalsonville candidate positions include the office of Mayor; City Council District 1, Post 1; City Council District 1, Post 3; City Council District 2, Post 4; and City Council District 2, Post 6. The qualifying fee for the Office of Mayor is $198, and for City Council posts,  the fee is $180.

In Iron City candidate positions include City Council Post 2 and City Council Post 4. The qualifying fee for Iron City Council posts is $25. 

Currently in Donalsonville those positions are held by the following: Mayor – Ron Johnson;  Council District 1, Post 1 -Mitzy Moye; City Council District 1, Post 3 – Ed Bond; City Council District 2, Post 4 – Flossie Smith; and City Council District 2, Post 6 – Lindsey Register; in Iron City Post 2 – Jackson Buchanan; Post 4- Lanny Williams.

The Election Superintendent’s office is located in the Seminole County Courthouse Annex located at 230 Cherry Street in Donalsonville.
